Oliver Jonas Queen is Chloe Sullivan's husband as well as the billionaire owner and CEO of Queen Industries, who also serves on a team of heroes as a vigilante archer, Green Arrow. As Green Arrow, Oliver dresses in green and black and utilizes a variety of arrows and gadgets for many forms of defense. Oliver had a near life-long relationship with Lex Luthor which began with their parents Veritas meetings and continued into their time together at boarding school. He also has a complicated romantic past with Tess Mercer. When Oliver descended into depression after learning that Lionel Luthor killed his parents, he turned towards a lifestyle of women, drinking, and partying. He then again abandoned his Green Arrow duties and spent many months making the gossip pages. He eventually decided to get his life back on track, thanks to Chloe Sullivan's intervention. In 2009, Oliver Queen discussed merging Queen Industries with LuthorCorp. However, the day he was to discuss the merger with the LuthorCorp Board of Directors, every member was killed in an explosion. It is unclear how much influence or stake Oliver currently holds in the company. In late 2009, Oliver discovered a prostitute and street fighter named Mia Dearden. Seeing her fighting skills, Ollie took her under his wing and got her off the streets, training her in martial arts with the hope that she could be an ally for his team of metahuman superheroes. Recently, due to the frequent bad press about costumed heroes being deemed vigilantes, and to the loss of his true love Chloe, Oliver revealed to the public that he is Green Arrow to prove the media wrong and hopefully be reunited with the woman he loves.
Oliver was childhood "friends" with Patricia Swann, Jason Teague and Lex Luthor while their parents held secret meetings. The Queens, Teagues, Lionel Luthor, and Virgil Swann had formed a secret society called Veritas and gathered every summer to prepare to welcome "The Traveler". Due to their role in the society, Lionel Luthor killed Robert and Laura Queen, and the other members, because he wanted The Traveler all to himself. Oliver's parents traveled frequently and extensively when he was young, associated in business and in research with the Teague, Swann and Luthors families. They died on October 14, 1989, en route to visit a prominent politician in Seoul, their plane was sabotaged and crashed into the ocean. Oliver was in the fourth grade, around age 9 or 10 at the time. Oliver attended Excelsior Academy Preparatory School in the 1990s where he studied fine arts and was a classmate of Lex Luthor. In Reunion, due to not having his parents to give him a stable upbringing, Oliver was shown to have been a school bully, tormenting Lex and a boy named Duncan, which resulted in Duncan being hit by a car. He graduated in 1998 and deferred admission to an Ivy League school to sail away in a private yacht to say goodbye to his parents. However, after he and his friends partied away, Oliver's yacht was attacked by a group of pirates organized by his own captain. Using his then-limited archery skills, Oliver barely escaped with his life, activating a life raft and washing ashore on a nearby island. Oliver was stranded for two years on the island, which had a harsh and changing weather. While on the island, Oliver improved his archery skills by making a make shift bow and arrows, which he would use to hunt wild boars on the island. While hunting one day, Oliver heard other people on his island. After checking it out, he found a group of drug runners that were stationed on the island. Before he could approach them, he pricked his hand on a toxic flower and collapsed. He woke up later in a tent with Tess Mercer, who was a prisoner of the drug runners, looking over him. She told him the flower was deadly and he had only 12 hours to live after the poison had entered his system. She was using leaches to 'suck' the poison out of his body, by releasing an enzyme to combat the poison effectively neutralizing it. Days later, Oliver staged an escape out of the island when the drug runners were leaving, knocking out one of them and poisoning the Marcos with the toxin. He and Tess then left the island, returning to his home Star City. For the next year, Oliver improved his archery skills further. He joined a cult of dark Celtic archers, and was taught by the expert archer Vordigan. Oliver eventually rejected the harsh and unethical teachings of the cult and left Vordigan, going back to Star City. There he vowed to use his skills for good, taking the mantle of the hero Green Arrow.
During his time in Metropolis, Oliver lived in a loft apartment known as Queen Tower. His company, Queen Industries, owned the only satellite that stayed online during Dark Thursday and Oliver learned that Lex was behind the destruction. He had Lex followed and kidnapped by two henchmen, Orlando Block and Wagner, so he could be questioned about the origins of his powers. Lionel suspected Oliver was responsible but he denied having anything to do with it. Oliver had requested no violence during Lex's kidnap, although his employees ignored this request. Nevertheless, Clark saved Lex, and Oliver became interested in the mysterious savior. Shortly after, Oliver stopped by the Kent Farm to meet with Senator Martha Kent but instead met Lois, who mistook him for a messenger boy for Queen Industries and sent a rather stunned Oliver on his way. After Lois learned from Mrs. Kent who he actually was, she went to his loft to apologize and gave him a fruit basket as a token of her apology. Then, He invited her to go to Lex Luthor's charity ball and Lois reluctantly agreed. They attended the ball together and at the end, a kind of attraction between them emerged.
Oliver donned his Green Arrow uniform and stole a diamond necklace from Martha Kent. Lois Lane became obsessed with finding the identity of the green thief, which got her kidnapped by his enemies. They tortured her to force her to provide information, but he rescued her in time. She attempted to unmask him, but Clark Kent intervened, in exchange for return of the diamond necklace, and the two agreed to protect each others' secret identities. However, Oliver was unimpressed with Clark; he believed Clark should use his powers to help anybody in need. Lex and Oliver returned to their school for an alumni event and were startled when Oliver's old friends were killed in violent and mysterious accidents. It was revealed that Oliver and his friends relentlessly teased Lex and his best friend Duncan Allenmeyer, eventually goading Lex into beating Duncan up and causing him to become severely injured in a car accident. Oliver believed that Duncan had died, but the recent murders began to point to him. Oliver had to face the guilt and regret over his part in Duncan's severe injury and admitted to Lex that he was sorry. However, Duncan had, in fact, survived and almost killed Oliver in revenge, but he was saved by Clark Kent. Later, he met Chloe Sullivan in the Kent's barn while he talked to Clark about make right choices for the future. Oliver had Dr. Pamela Black manufacture a healing drug. In the middle of a date with Lois, Oliver dashed away to save a couple from being carjacked, but was shot in the process. He used the drug to heal his wound completely, however, it also had side effects: angry outbursts and mood swings. Lois came into the apartment and saw Green Arrow there not realizing it was Oliver. He pushed her down into a glass table and fled. He went to find his shooter and discovered he also had obtained the drug. Realizing that Lex had allowed experiments to be done on halfway house residents, Oliver attacked Lex with an arrow and Lex responded by shooting him in the chest. Oliver took the drug again to save his life and Clark gave Lex the drug to save him, despite Oliver protesting. When Oliver recovered from the drug-induced mood swing he admitted that he had developed the drug so he could be like Clark, but recognized that he couldn't resort to murder to accomplish that as Clark Kent would never kill anyone.
When Lois suspected Oliver was Green Arrow, he came up with a plan for Clark to disguise himself as Green Arrow while Lois was also with Oliver. Oliver was relieved that the plan worked, although it gave Clark the opportunity to kiss Lois, which he was not happy about. Oliver had been recruiting super-powered individuals to form a group that fought for good. His band of super-human heroes then had to spring into action and rescue team member Impulse. They worked together to destroy one of LuthorCorp's Level 33.1 facilities. He and the Justice League left Metropolis to shut down other Level 33.1 locations across the globe. Even after leaving Metropolis with his superhero team, Oliver's benevolence and wealth continued to help the friends he made in Kansas. His hero team shut down at least eight 33.1 labs around the world. He provided Clark Kent with the details on a lethal internet fight club so that Clark could shut it down. When Clark met Tobias Rice, he asked Oliver to arrange for him to receive a cornea transplant and sent him to Oliver's hometown of Star City for the surgery. Oliver also provided a safe haven for Moira Sullivan, the mother of Chloe Sullivan, after Moira was kidnapped and exploited by Lex. Chloe enlisted Oliver's help again when Lois was kidnapped by Wes Keenan. Oliver reported to her about encountering another version of Lex's super soldier in a desert in Utah, explaining that he used an exploding arrow to penetrate the soldier's force field. Clark, upon learning about Oliver's solution to the shield, used his heat vision at maximum to shatter Keenan's force field.
Once Oliver returned, he asked Chloe for help to download information on Lex's projects, and once she did, she was attacked by Black Canary. Oliver managed to get to her in time to save her, although Clark later showed up in his apartment with angry words for getting Chloe involved with Oliver. He figured Lois would be there to see him so he made dinner for them, however, Black Canary appeared, and attacked them. After the attack, Lois saw Oliver's costume and archery gear and discovered he was Green Arrow. Oliver later got loose, and had an intense fight with Lex. He then asked Lois to try to make their relationship work, but she knew it was not going to work out. Although, he did make an addition to his team of heroes: Black Canary. Oliver stayed close to Metropolis and Chloe Sullivan allowed him to use Isis Foundation for storage of equipment. When Chloe Sullivan was arrested, Oliver investigated her arrest and discovered that she was not being held by any conventional law enforcement entity. After Lex was shot in Detroit he began to remember events from his childhood, he remembers the days when he played alongside Oliver, Patricia and Jason and recollected his father's secret meetings with a group known as Veritas. Oliver's parents had been part of Veritas, which had been awaiting The Traveler's arrival on Earth.
Green Arrow assembled members of his team to search for Clark after his disappearance in the Arctic. Including Black Canary and Aquaman, the three of them first infiltrated a LuthorCorp camp in the Arctic, then met at the Isis Foundation to utilize facial recognition software. Unaware that Black Canary and Aquaman were captured, Oliver located Clark in a Russian camp and went to retrieve him. He informed Clark that Chloe Sullivan was most likely not actually arrested and that he believed that she was being held in another LuthorCorp facility in Montana. Despite his not having any superpowers, Clark insisted that they go rescue her. However, at the facility, Oliver was injected with a mind-control serum and shot Clark in the chest under the influence, but came to his senses shortly after. Presumably, Ollie flew Chloe and Lois Lane, also attempting to rescue Chloe, back to Kansas. Back in Metropolis, Oliver, Dinah, Clark and AC met to regroup. Since Dinah and AC's identities were now known by LuthorCorp, they agreed to go underground temporarily. Oliver decided to stay in Metropolis. Oliver was poisoned while attending a rain-forest fund-raiser. He insisted he not be taken to a hospital and Chloe Sullivan asked Davis Bloome to help care for him. As his condition worsened, Oliver remembered his time shipwrecked on an island where he had taught himself how to use the bow and arrow which would eventually lead to his Green Arrow identity. It was also revealed that he first encountered Tess Mercer on the island, after Oliver was infected by the same poison. He was cured by Tess, and they were both kidnapped by Marcos. The memory enabled Oliver to communicate to Clark that Tess might be able to cure him and Tess helped Clark obtain the cure. Moments before the poison overtook him, Clark found Oliver the cure and he snapped out it. Oliver told Clark to save Tess. After his ordeal, Tess revealed to Oliver that Lionel Luthor killed his parents and Oliver correctly guessed that Clark was aware of this fact. Drowning his sorrows, he angrily confronted Clark and told him that he had not yet faced a life-changing trial, his own "island moment."
Oliver and Tess had a competitive business relationship. He mentioned that LuthorCorp bought Star City Towers from Queen Industries. Despite this, Oliver tried to rekindle their relationship and spend the night at Luthor Mansion. He bought Tess an expensive bracelet. However, Tess, reminding Oliver that he cheated on her and broke her heart, stated that she was not interested in dating him and dismissed him. Simultaneously, Oliver ran into his ex-girlfriend Lois Lane and Clark at a jewelery store. Undercover for a story, the two told him they had found true love in one another and were engaged. Oliver seemed skeptical but also affected by the sudden news. Learning the truth of his parents' death, coupled with heartbreak, Oliver decided to abandon his Green Arrow duties and descended into a lifestyle of drinking, partying, and girls. He regularly made the gossip pages and jetted off to beaches with various women. Clark interrupted his departure for such a trip when he asked Oliver for help. Jimmy Olsen had snapped a photograph of him super-speeding while saving Lois' life and began to suspect that Clark was a mysterious savior for the streets of Metropolis, calling him the "Good Samaritan." Clark asked Oliver to help throw Jimmy off his tracks by dressing up in his hero gear and "rescuing" Jimmy from a staged crime. The scheme did not go as planned, but Oliver did indeed wind up rescuing Jimmy from a mugger, dressing up in a blue hooded leather jacket and red cape. The witnesses reacted with awe and admiration, which inspired Oliver to return to his Green Arrow duties. Reinvigorated, Oliver decided to continue being Green Arrow and forgave Clark for not telling him about his parents. He flew off to meet with the rest of his team for a summit in Europe. When he returned, Oliver was met by Chloe Sullivan, who asked him for help activating Clark's Crystal of Knowledge. Oliver initially did not want to get involved, saying that he steers clear of Clark's Kryptonian heritage, but when Chloe revealed that she needed him to steal a generator from Tess, Ollie eagerly agreed to help.
Infiltrated the Luthor Mansion as Green Arrow, easily subdued Tess with a tranquilizer dart, and delivered the generator to Chloe. Oliver witnessed Chloe activate the crystal, causing great harm to herself in the process. He tried to stop her and, entranced, she pushed him across the room. This event prompted Oliver to confront Clark. Clark admitted that Chloe had been infected by Brainiac infected her somehow. Oliver told Clark as her best friend that he should do something before she really gets into trouble with her ability. He believed that Chloe was in over her head. On the day of Chloe and Jimmy's wedding, Oliver told Clark that he had evidence that Lex Luthor was alive. He wanted Clark to steal a internet router that would reveal his location. Clark obtained the router but, fearing that Oliver would extract revenge on Lex, insisted that he wait until after the wedding so that Clark could go with him to confront him. Oliver obtained the information from the router and went to kill Lex by himself. In Cuba, he found what appeared to be a bald man and delivered what was intended to be a fatal shot, only to learn that it was just a mannequin decoy. He was then attacked by Lana Lang who claimed to also have arrived to catch Lex. She learned that Green Arrow was Oliver's secret identity. Oliver convinced her to return to Smallville to support Chloe at her wedding. She agreed and they both arrived back in town. After the ceremony, Oliver encountered Lois, drinking straight from a bottle of champagne. He offered a friendly ear, and Lois confessed that she was upset because she had feelings for Clark and mistakenly thought that he might return them. Oliver told Lois that Clark might need her after all. However, during their conversation, a monster attacked the wedding guests. Oliver arrived at the barn just in time to see the monster take Chloe. Shortly after Detective John Jones was shot, Oliver arrived at the hospital to find Clark. Clark was surprised to learn that Oliver was aware of John Jones' true identity as a Martian, but Oliver explained that he had been working with Jones recently and had even hired a special doctor, Emil Hamilton to care for people with abilities. Clark and Oliver wound up separately investigating the same case involving corrupt police officers. Oliver fell under heavy fire but Clark saved him. Oliver, Clark, and John Jones decided they'd probably be able to get more done working together rather than fighting crime alone.
Oliver called a meeting with the Board of Directors of LuthorCorp, just as they were about to have a Vote of No-Confidence in Tess Mercer, to discuss a merge with Queen Industries. He claimed he was stepping in for Tess as she was overseas, and established himself as a shareholder of some of LuthorCorp's assets. At the very last moment, Oliver recognized a bomb hidden in an Executive toy just as a large explosion rocked the office and killed every board member. Oliver was wounded and suffered an extensive hospital stay. While recovering, Oliver asked Chloe Sullivan to investigate whom he thought was responsible: a former Queen Industries employee named Winslow Schott. Oliver convinced Chloe to help him by stating that he believed Schott was working with Lex, which put Clark in danger. Schott went to see Oliver to kill him with a toy bomb, but Oliver managed to get free and forced the Toyman to tell him where Lex was. Oliver took the toy bomb and stashed it in a truck in which he believed Lex was hiding, presumably killing him. When Chloe confronted him, Oliver pointed out that he knew Chloe was responsible for the death of Sebastian Kane. Chloe denied responsibility but Oliver suggested she was more in control than she might want to admit, and put pressure on her to not tell Clark about his involvement. Oliver collected Lex's kryptonite ring. When Clark was not able to attend Chloe's party, Oliver came in his place to give Chloe her gift. The next day, Oliver was confronted by Zatanna, and offered him a wish if he could get her a special book that Lex Luthor acquired. Using his Green Arrow gear, Oliver managed to get into a LuthorCorp warehouse and stole the Book of Zatara. After looking through it, Zatanna could see that it was Oliver behind the shades. When Oliver realized what her intention was, Zatanna used magic to take the book and bind Oliver to a post using chains. He managed to get himself free, and encountered Zatanna in his office, and decided to offer him her magical service into any dealings with supernatural foes. Later that day Oliver and Chloe reactivated the Justice League, with Chloe as the Watchtower. At the Ace of Clubs, Oliver was making a business deal, when he was interrupted by Jimmy Olsen. Jimmy was asking money to buy some drugs on the street. Going to the Talon trying to protect Chloe, Oliver saw Jimmy stealing money from Chloe, and the two were knocked out and tied up by Davis Bloome. As Oliver tried to reason with Davis, Clark managed to save the two by getting Davis out of the Talon. Oliver belittled Chloe for aiding Davis, and later gave Jimmy a job to keep him off the streets. After this, Oliver was prepared to believe the worst of Chloe, as he believed that she had run away with Davis because she loved him; and later lectured Clark of killing Davis when he had the chance.
After Chloe seemingly returned when it was actually Eva using her shape shifting powers, Clark went to Oliver asking him to retrieve some Black Kryptonite that Tess had in her possession to deal with Doomsday once and for all. Persistently, Oliver made attempts to get back together with Tess, but she continued to turn him down every time. However, he did manage to get her fingerprint which he used to steal a chunk of black kryptonite from her private vault in the mansion. Even though he got a hold of the black kryptonite, Oliver undressed from his Green Arrow wear and got into bed to wait for Tess. Still resisting his charms, Oliver could tell he was swaying her, especially when she caring for his welfare when Plastique and Parasite attacked the mansion. Discovering Parasite had Clark's powers, Oliver returned in his Green Arrow gear to use the Kryptonite Ring to stop the metahumans from killing Clark. Clark saw Oliver with the kryptonite ring, once he regained his powers. The next day, Clark obtained the Black Kryptonite from him and then confronted Oliver about the possession of kryptonite ring and then Oliver admitted that he obtained it when he murdered Lex Luthor. Oliver arrives at the loft to see Clark discussing his plan about burying Doomsday underground to Impulse and Black Canary and is ostracized by Clark from the group, stating "You're not one of us anymore." He orders Jimmy to find Davis and Chloe by hacking into Tess' computer to use her tracking system. Later, he betrayed Clark along with the rest of the Justice League by shooting him with a kryptonite arrow to get him out of the way, and then went to kill Doomsday without interference. After confronting Clark, he and his team abducted Davis and Chloe, then he informed Chloe that Davis had to die to save everyone and then Davis began to transform again. When Oliver was about to shoot him with one of his arrows, Chloe used the black kryptonite and split Davis and Doomsday Oliver and the rest of the Justice League were defeated by Doomsday and had no choice but to use Clark's plan to bury Doomsday underground. After defeating Doomsday, he, along with the rest of the Justice League, attend Jimmy's funeral and he shed a tear, mourning for his friend. Later, following the funeral, Chloe told Clark at the new Watchtower, that Oliver, Dinah and Bart were all missing now.
After Jimmy's death, Oliver disappeared. Feeling helpless and useless as a hero, he took out his anger in an underground fight club, where Lois found him losing a fight. A Kryptonian Assassin followed Lois to the fight club and Oliver protected Lois from the assassin's heat vision. Once Clark had defeated the assassin, Lois treated Oliver's wounds, while she tried to encourage him to become Green Arrow again. Oliver claimed that he really was not any kind of hero, which disappointed Lois and she left him. Oliver returned to Metropolis and was reprimanded by Clark for giving up his heroic persona. When Oliver incorrectly thought that Tess had a camera to spy on him, he went to the Daily Planet to confront her but he was surrounded by rabid zombies. Clark trusted Oliver to protect Lois from the zombies. Looking at himself in a mirror, Oliver realized just how far he had fallen, but distracted himself and allowed Lois to turn into a zombie herself. In the aftermath, Oliver was confronted for his failure by an enraged Clark. Oliver told Clark that he Clark was right about him, and he now knew what to do with his life. After Clark departed, a despondent Oliver burned his Green Arrow costume. Oliver then fell completely into alcoholism and abandoned his work responsibilities. This caused Tess to go to Mexico to bring him back to Metropolis for a shareholder's meeting. At the meeting, he unwittingly stepped onto a pressure plate connected to a bomb, as his old enemy, the Toyman, reappeared and threatened to blow up the building if he did not admit that he had killed Lex Luthor. Oliver attempted suicide when he voluntarily stepped off the pressure plate, after he waited until the building was empty, assuming that the bomb would detonate the instant he did. However, the bomb was a fake bomb and his suicide plan failed. Oliver confessed his problems to Clark, who told him that he wasn't giving up on Oliver.
Continuing his downward spiral, Oliver was throwing away his money in a casino when was kidnapped by Victoria Sinclair and forced to play a game for his own life. After face the death, Oliver rediscovered himself and reconsiders how important is for him his life. Oliver decided to wear his bow and arrow again and returned to being Green Arrow. We later find out that this was arranged by Chloe to show him what he was doing to himself, when Oliver realized that Chloe was behind that she was behind the plan. Visiting an underground fighting ring, Oliver sought out Mia Dearden, promising training and a better future. When she accepted his offer, Mia was given better clothes and a car. He then went to Lois on her “televised” blind date to admit he still has feelings for her. However, Lois told him that she wanted to just be friends because, unfortunately for him, she wanted Clark. Oliver helped Clark search for Jor-El, later Clark talked to Oliver wanting his help to find Jor-El's killer. After Lois was taken from the hospital, Oliver was trying to call in the best neurologists in the world. Oliver and Chloe was working hard on tracking Zod and the Kandorians, and in for taking Zod down once and for all. Clark later meets with Oliver and Chloe telling them that it won't be a good idea to go after Zod. Oliver became concerned when he discovered that someone was impersonating him and attacking the women in his life, Lois, Chloe and Mia. Oliver seemed to recognize the skill of the attack and realized that it was his old mentor, Vordigan. Oliver confronted him and managed to defeat him ironically from skills that the Dark Archer had taught him. Mia now realized that Oliver was Green Arrow and requested that they resume their training sessions.
When a mysterious man that knew about the heroes team was murdered, he helped Chloe and Clark to investigate what was happening. He then discovered that there was a retired group of heroes that protected the world in the past like he was doing now. Oliver joined forces with the remaining Justice Society members, alongside Clark, Chloe, and John Jones, to stop Icicle. Teaming with Hawkman, Oliver learned that he is afraid of being near people or letting them get close romantically, so he acts insensitive and after receiving several tips from the old League, especially Carter Hall, decides began to change his behavior. Oliver started to spend more time at the Watchtower with Chloe and then began a relationship with her, especially because of the loneliness they felt and the desire to have fun that overwhelmed them. When Oliver was confronted by Tess for being responsible for destroying the Solar Tower, she told Oliver that one of his employees was embezzling money from the company, which Oliver deduced to be Chloe’s doing. Confronting Chloe, Oliver discovered that she had used the money to fund an arsenal of Kryptonian weaponry. Oliver protected the arsenal from Tess by hiding it, as he knew that she was spying on him and to protect Chloe. Oliver took Chloe on a secret getaway for some private weekend together on a B&B, they ended up bumping into Clark and Lois there. After an awkward double date breakfast and a talk with Clark, Oliver bought Chloe a gift, but Chloe turned it down, saying that their relationship shouldn't get serious. Later, he ran into a possessed Lois while looking for Chloe. She said she would take him to her out in the woods, only to attack him. Just as Siobhan was about to kill him , Clark showed up and with the help of Chloe, defeated her. Later, Oliver and Chloe talk about their relationship, past and scars, the conversation ends in a surprise kiss from Chloe.
Oliver was kidnapped by Checkmate in an attempt to recruit him to work for the government to fight in an oncoming war, but he escaped. He reunited with a worried Chloe at Watchtower and filled her and Clark in on the situation. He insisted the he should join in on the investigation but Chloe, for his safety, didn't allow it. Later, at a Luthorcorp banquet, he and Tess shared a conversation, in which she discovered that he was Green Arrow and he discovered she worked for Checkmate. Once he discovered that Chloe had been abducted by Checkmate, he quickly went to Watchtower and shut down Checkmate's headquarters power grid, to help Clark rescue Chloe. He later met with Tess who begged him for forgiveness, but he turned her away, saying he no longer trusted her. His attraction toward Chloe began to be increasingly stronger and then Oliver decided to follow the advice of his girl and kept in low profile to avoid Checkmate, going out of town from time to time to throw off suspicion. Even when he was was away on business, he sent messenger showing that miss her. Later Clark told Oliver about Zod and how he had powers. Oliver wanted to take action but Clark didn't want to start a war and pleaded with Oliver not to do anything. Oliver later went after Zod and found him in the Luthor mansion and Zod asked him to join him to take down Checkmate. Oliver refused and fired an arrow when Zod threw him to a wall. Zod collapsed due to Oliver's arrow being made from kryptonite. Injured, Oliver told Zod he wouldn't kill him or his people because he made a promise to Clark. However, when Zod vanished, Oliver turned around just in time to get a Z scorched into his chest. He was rushed to the hospital and warned Clark that Checkmate was after the Kandorians. While in recovery, Chloe stayed by Oliver's side and after he quickly recovered from his injuries, Oliver returned to Metropolis to join Chloe, Clark, and other heroes at Watchtower to learn the battle plan against the Kandorians. After the Watchtower lost communications with the rest of the league, Oliver tells Chloe that he had a satellite launched specifically for Watchtower but needed to be brought online manually. He and Chloe shared a sweet and tender kiss before Oliver went to establish the satellite connection and after taking directions from Chloe in order to navigate through a series of ventilation shafts and succeeds on his mission, Oliver was swarmed by what Chloe thought were the Kandorians. Oliver tries to escape but the situation becomes untenable. After confessing his love to Chloe, he informed her that his attackers were not Kandorians before the line went dead.
Oliver was abducted by mysterious men and was blindfolded and brutally interrogated by one of their agents to get information about his team and on the strange symbols that appeared around the world similar to the Blur's. Oliver resisted without breaking all abuse and refused to give up. Finally, without understanding why and unknowingly, he was released when Chloe traded herself for him. Frantically searching for Chloe after she went missing, Oliver discovered that all the records of Chloe were erased, and finally tracked down the place where he had been held captive and confronted his kidnapper, who revealed that Chloe had traded herself for him and then killed herself to protect him. Oliver realized that Chloe had faked her own death after finding an antidote to the cyanide pill that she took in her apartment but felt guilty by Chloe´s decision and started blaming himself for it. When Lois warned Oliver that Gordon Godfrey obtained evidence about his secret identity as Green Arrow, Oliver started to think about his life and realized that Chloe sacrificed everything to protect him and his fellow heroes due to their secret identities. He then made a decision to reveal his identity to the world so that Chloe could return to him and called a press conference to announce he is Green Arrow. After revealing himself to the public, Oliver began to be harassed by the media. Really insecure about his recent act, Oliver felt not having the support of his fellow heroes as he prepared for an interview with the local TV-media to discuss his alter-ego. When the reporter began tearing him down for being a vigilante, strengthened by Clark's presence, Oliver makes a speech, reassuring his acts and defiantly proclaimed that he definitely was a hero. Because of his newfound popularity, Oliver started to appear in his Green Arrow glory and began to receiving gifts from the people of Metropolis. After he was confronted by Tess for his actions in public, Oliver confessed to her that he was only trying to fill the loneliness in his heart because he missed Chloe so much. After rejecting enlist Tess' help and influence in Lois' possession, Oliver finally agreed that she would be useful and he and Clark invited Tess into their team to fill the void of Watchtower. Despite his decision to allow Tess to run Watchtower, Oliver didn't adjust, particularly as she began to make changes to their base much to Oliver's dismay, who wanted to keep Chloe's memory in it. When Tess discovered that both he and Clark were marked by the Suicide Squad while examining Oliver, he continued to remain distrustful on Tess, no matter how much she tried to help. After a fight, Oliver offered to Tess a peace and the two shared a meal together. He then stated that he would stop coming to the Watchtower because that when he revealed himself to the public, he risked endangering his fellow team members and the Watchtower, as people now paid closer attention to him.
Oliver reluctantly returned to Watchtower after Dr. Emil Hamilton found a way to remove the tracking tattoo and discussed with Clark the need for someone to register into the Vigilante Registration Act to protect the rest of the team. Oliver agreed to register himself as he has already compromised his identity but after he signs the registration in a press conference, he was escorted by Col. Slade to a secret military facility where he was subjected to a battery of test to assess his capabilities to prove if he has any superpowers. Slade then tortured Oliver by waterboarding him into giving up more of his allies, but he was saved by his team mates who blew up the installation. After discovering a mark of the darkness on Slade's skull, Clark told Oliver and the rest of the team about the dark force that had come to the earth. After what happened with the military facility, Oliver began to stay away from Metropolis, but when an evil version of Clark appeared on the city, Oliver was called to Watchtower by Tess to help fight him. When Clark and Lois got engaged, Oliver held an engagement party at Watchtower for them, while talk to Clark, Oliver revealed that after blowing up the installation, he and all the other heroes began to be labeled as terrorists and then Clark asked him to be his best man at the wedding. Later that night, while saving a girl from a thief, he was attacked by a mob of angry people. After being saved by Carter and Courtney, the team decided to shut down Watchtower to protect themselves until they discover more about the dark force that apparently had spread throughout the city. After Carter Hall died while saving Lois, Oliver and the other heroes attended his funeral in Egypt. After three weeks of being in cyberspace setup by the VRA, Oliver found himself at his office, very shaken up after what happened and kept having flashbacks of Chloe, similar to Dinah and Clark. He had himself committed, believing that the VRA was responsible for robbing him of his sanity. Chloe had later confronted Oliver, appearing in his cell. Chloe informed him of a virtual world they were all in, and able to manipulate matter to escape. Chloe and Oliver returned to the real world, only to prove Chloe right about the lab by the VRA. Oliver joined forces with the Suicide Squad to free the other heroes and get out alive. Chloe and Oliver decided to spend the remaining time that they had with each other while she was there.
After spending a night with Chloe, Oliver awoke at her side to see a Pro-Hero Rally in Metropolis online. Oliver joined Clark's side to investigate Martha's attack. When Oliver returned to LuthorCorp, he found Lionel Luthor of Earth-2 and Alexander Luthor in his office, who revealed that they had bought out Oliver and Tess due to their illicit activities and were taking back LuthorCorp. Oliver later watched the VRA announcement at the Kent farm and was enjoyed when it was repealed. Despite having to lose everything he worked hard for from Lionel, Oliver was reduced to a form of mundane normalcy as he hides under shades and hat. Oliver later went to dinner with Chloe at a restaurant, assuming the identity of "The Jones' " in order to get a table. Unfortunately, they are caught in the act by the FBI backup of the Jones' who are actually FBI agents investigating a recent string of murders, which eventually leads to Chloe being captured by Desaad. While Clark saves Chloe, Oliver viciously attacks the leaving Desaad, only stopping when Clark tells him that Chloe is alive. After having a heartfelt conversation with Chloe about their relationship, it is revealed that Oliver has the Omega Symbol branded on him, meaning that he has been corrupted by Darkseid. After getting drunk at Clark and Lois bachelor and bachlorette parties, Oliver helps Lois to regain her engagement ring. At the end, while all the gang watched the video of the wild night, Chloe snuck away to leave but was noticed by Oliver, who follow her. Before Chloe can explain herself, Oliver gave her the other side of the marriage certificate that she had found in the morning and revealed that the two were married during the previous night. Knowing she'd accepted a job in his hometown, Oliver decided to accompany Chloe in her journey and the two departed happily to Star City to begin a new life together.
After some weeks, Oliver returned to Metropolis after Tess alerted him about Slade being back from the Phantom Zone and followed Clark to the Zone only to be brought before Zod. Zod spoke with Oliver, as he acknowledged that the archer was indeed an agent of darkness, and tells him that when Darkseid takes over, he will delve into his anger and need for vengeance to side with the Dark Lord. Zod offered Oliver to rule with him in exchange for killing Clark and although Oliver was seduced by the idea while fighting with him in an arena, he did not and helped Clark to trick Zod. Once they returned from the Zone, Oliver kept secret about being infected by Darkseid and went on Hawkman's quest to find the Bow of Orion as Oliver believed it was this same bow that forced Darkseid out of existence before, and it should do the same again. Oliver found his way to the island where the cave the Bow of Orion was residing in and found Kara Kent trapped in an impenetrable circle trap. He freed her and together look for the bow. After Kara was summoned by Jor-El and had to leave, Oliver found the bow and finally saw hope that he could be saved. However Granny Goodness thwarted this and destroyed the bow. Oliver, crushed at seeing his only chance destroyed but hoped that he could find another way. Granny Goodness then forced him onto his knees and draws out the darkness which takes him over and remove his memories. Oliver later dug up a piece of Gold Kryptonite. As Chloe and Oliver were decorating the wedding chapel for Clark and Lois, they knew about Lois calling off the wedding because of her concerns and insecurities. Oliver told Chloe to talk to Lois to insure the wedding goes on. Then while under the influence of Darkseid, Oliver had Watchtower blocked from using satellites to be alerted by the approaching Apokolips. Oliver was then called by The Unholy Trinity (Granny Goodness, Desaad, and Gordon Godfrey) who wanted to Oliver to rid Clark of his Kryptonian birthright through the gold kryptonite he found. At the wedding, when it was time to exchange rings, Oliver gave Lois the gold kryptonite rings however Chloe recognized that those rings were reacting strangely, so she knocked them out of Lois’s hands and away from Clark. Oliver was forced to expose himself as a servant to Darkseid and used his power to subdue Clark. However, Clark’s heart-warming words were able to save his friend. Oliver returned to Clark and Chloe’s side at the farm. When Chloe decided to return to Star City to access Watchtower's database, Oliver insisted on going with her, but she told him to stay and be a hero before kissing him passionately. Oliver went to Watchtower and got his Green Arrow gear then headed off to deal with Unholy Trinity. The prophets were unimpressed by Oliver, saying he could never defeat them. Oliver proved them wrong by drawing back his bow and fired three arrows at the trio, vanquishing them. Later, Oliver watched as Apokolips was pushed away from the Earth by a new and heroic Clark Kent. Oliver smiled happily to see that his friend had finally embraced his destiny.
Powers and Abilities
Oliver has no superhuman abilities, but he makes up for it with his extraordinary skills as an archer, as well as his athleticism.
- Master Marksmanship: Oliver Queen is extremely skilled marksman. From the roof of Queen Tower, Oliver was able to hit the ornamental globe on the roof of the Daily Planet building almost a mile away; not only did he hit the globe itself, but he was able to specify a location he wanted to hit in Borneo. (Sneeze) He was able to aim his arrow inside of the hole of a pop tab of a soda can. (Wither) He was also able to anticipate a bullet in flight and block it with an arrow. (Arrow) He was able to hit a super powered Zod with a kryptonite arrow, despite Zod being as fast as Clark. Oliver is now skilled enough that he can shoot 3 arrows at once. As a master archer Oliver uses a mechanical bow and crossbow he developed (Finale, Part 2)
- Peak of Human Physical Condition: Oliver Queen has shown to be physically stronger, tougher, and possesses exceptional amount of stamina than the average human athlete of his age.
- Above Average Intellect: Oliver Queen is very intelligent and a deep thinker.
- Master Martial Artist: He is proficient in several forms of hand-to-hand combat including Judo, Kickboxing and Karate. He is exceptionally athletic. Queen Industries Oliver also has access to top of the line technology and electronics equipment through his corporation, Queen Industries and his enormous family fortune. This technology not only powers his quiver of super powered arrows; it also provides technology for members of his Justice League, including Cyborg. He also funds the research and development of drugs like RL65, a healing drug which allowed him to temporarily acquire the meta humans power of a healing factor. (Rage) His satellites also provide him with imagery he is able to use for his superhero team, as well as to monitor his enemies. (Sneeze) Oliver also uses voice alteration technology while he is disguised as Green Arrow. He used his company to help build watchtower into the high tech database it is.
Some of The Specialized Arrows Oliver has used and developed are: Normal Arrow, Mini Arrow, EMP Arrow, Electric Mini Arrow, Grappling Arrow, Kryptonite Dart, Tranquilizer Dart, Knockout Gas Dart and Explosive Arrow
As a human with no known metahuman skills, Oliver is extremely vulnerable to physical attacks. He was shot by Lex Luthor, but cured himself with RL65 in Rage As a result, he often uses his archery skills to maintain distance between him and his opponents. In the Oliver Queen Chronicles, he shoots a purse-snatcher in the leg while perched on a remote rooftop. Oliver also often carefully plans his assaults, such as when he's stealing jewelry to give to the poor (Arrow). He also uses technology whenever possible (such as from his satellites or from Cyborg's information warfare capabilities) to gain an informational advantage. Oliver also compensates for his physical vulnerability by partnering with metahumans whenever possible. The ultimate manifestation of this strategy is his team of superheroes (Justice).
Oliver is charismatic with an affable demeanor. Known for his wit and subtle humor, he is very easy to talk to. Even though she is his ex-girlfriend, Ollie offered a friendly ear to Lois in Bride. He is in his late twenties. He is shown to have graduated from high school in 1998 in the Oliver Queen Chronicles. Oliver believes that the ends justify the means, and is willing to commit crimes to achieve his goals.
- Stealing: As Green Arrow, Oliver adopts a Robin Hood-type philosophy he steals ill-gotten valuables from the rich and donates the proceeds anonymously to charity. Clark sees a collection of articles documenting Ollie's Robin-Hood like deeds in Arrow Clark Kent argued with him that stealing was wrong for any reason, but Oliver disagreed.
- Murder: Oliver has shown he is even willing to commit murder for the greater good or even in revenge, in stark contrast to Clark.
- Oliver shot Lex Luthor and was willing to let him die, but Clark saved him with RL65. (Rage)
- Oliver was also shown shooting a LuthorCorp expedition member with a potentially lethal arrow while attempting to find a missing Clark. (Odyssey)
- After Oliver discovered that the Luthors were behind his parents' death, he attempted to kill Lex Luthor; he eventually succeeded.
- Oliver also attempted to kill the untransformed Davis Bloome in order to eliminate Doomsday, even disabling Clark with kryptonite when he wasn't willing to go along with his plan. (Doomsday)
- Oliver shot Darkseid's prophets with three arrows. (Finale, Part 2)
Oliver has faced no legal consequences for murdering Lex or attempting to murder Davis. Oliver has been overcome with despondency in the past, going back and forth between a belief that his life has no purpose, and the belief that he could make a make a difference as the Green Arrow:
- After his parents died, Oliver lost himself in partying, alcohol, and girls. After being wrecked on a desert island and learning archery from the natives, he decided to become the Green Arrow and fight crime in Star City. (Oliver Queen Chronicles)
- After Tess Mercer told him that Lionel Luthor was behind his parent's death, Oliver loses hope and starts to party with girls on his private jet (Identity). Clark convinces Oliver to help him fool Jimmy Olsen into thinking that Clark isn't the Red Blue Blur; doing so reminds Oliver that being a hero is an important part of his identity.
- After Oliver overpowered Clark in an attempt to kill Davis Bloome, he was overcome with guilt when Davis later killed Jimmy. He turned to gambling, drinking, and fighting in underground fight clubs to numb his pain (Savior, Roulette). He even burned his Green Arrow outfit (Rabid). He was rejected in his advances by Lois Lane and continued to spiral out of control, even attempting to commit suicide (Echo). Finally, Chloe manipulated him with a series of tests so that he could face his demons and once again become Green Arrow (Roulette).
Oliver easily assumes a leadership position and, as Green Arrow, has been the leader of the Justice League. He holds great concern for his team members and his friends and is willing to do whatever it takes to rescue them from harm. He led the team to rescue Bart Allen in Justice, Clark Kent in Odyssey and expressed concern over Chloe Sullivan's well-being in Bloodline. Oliver believes that he has a duty to find people who need saving.
Ollie is portrayed to being quite fond of female company. He cheated on Tess Mercer, and admitted to Lois Lane that he had left several girls behind, but never regretted it. Ollie's exception in his love life concerns his romantic relationship with Chloe Sullivan. She is the first woman that he has professed his love to, and is a relationship where he could be completely honest about his double life. He's also spoken about her in a prayer to his dead parents. Oliver was faithful to Chloe though she'd been missing for several months. Upon her return, Chloe and Oliver rekindled their relationship, and are now married. Ollie has also admitted that he is uncomfortable discussing Clark's alien heritage and believes that Chloe's proximity to Clark puts her in over her head. (Bloodline)
Oliver is 6'3" and 195 pounds. He has blond hair and brown eyes. Oliver had a scar in his chest in the shape of the Mark of Zod, from when he was burned by Zod's heat vision, (Sacrifice) but had the scar covered via plastic surgery. (Lazarus) Oliver, unlike most others, has generally kept the same appearance over the last 5 years. His hair has stayed in the same style since his first appearance in Sneeze, only sometimes it is seen grown out slightly. He is sometimes seen with an unshaven appearance, mostly when he goes on drinking binges. (Echo, Roulette) Oliver's style in clothing is somewhat similar to Lex Luthor's, as they both dress in high class business suits and dress pants and shirts which seems to be mostly green. Oliver also owns a leather jacket he sometimes wears when he's riding his motorcycle. (Rabid) As Green Arrow, Oliver masks his identity with a green and black leather costume. It brands a green 'G' on the belt and also has a hood and black sunglasses which contain a voice changer. His sunglasses have special electronic features, one of these features allows him to communicate with Watchtower. The outfit has been worn by Clark Kent on one occasion to act as cover for Oliver in Hydro in his attempt to prove Lois wrong when she suspected Oliver of being the Green Arrow. Oliver returned the favor by once wearing a very similar red and blue outfit to cover for Clark. (Identity)
- Young Oliver Queen was played by Actors Ryan Overton and Luke Gair.
- According to the Oliver Queen Chronicles Oliver was in the fourth grade, around age 9 or 10 at the time. However, he later tells Clark in Echo that he was five when his parents died, even though he was clearly seen to be the same age as Lex or older in Reunion. It is unknown why this detail was changed.
- According to the Oliver Queen Chronicles, Oliver encountered the island's natives after a couple of weeks in the island. He lived among them for over three months during which time they taught him how to hunt and improve his archery skills. Upon further exploration, Oliver was shocked to discover the wreckage of his parents' plane on the island. He collected their wedding rings from their remains and also found a letter his mother had written to him the night of the crash.
- The account in the Oliver Queen Chronicles regarding how Oliver escaped the island is quite different. Serendipitously, Oliver's stolen yacht, banked on the island eleven months after his arrival. Oliver resolved to get it back; he and the natives staged a coup and Oliver was able to reclaim his boat and go back to Star City.
- Coincidently during Oliver's first episode in Sneeze at the end, he wore a entirly white suit very similar to Lex Luthor's destined suit for when he is President of The United States. He again wore it in Roulette.
- Oliver originally aimed to keep his identity as the Green Arrow a secret, however Clark discovered it in Arrow, Lois found out in Siren, Lana found out in Bride, Chloe told Oliver she knew in Justice and Tess found out in Checkmate. In Supergirl, Oliver publicly announced that he is Green Arrow.
- Green Arrow can be seen on security camera footage that Lex views in Combat.
- Oliver's chest was severely burned by Zod's heat vision, yet he later appears to have healed from it a few episodes later. This represents either a continuity error on the part of the writers, or meant to indicate that Oliver had the scar repaired via plastic surgery offscreen.
- Smallville's version of Oliver Queen has several similarities to Batman (Bruce Wayne) he is a wealthy playboy, uses his company's technology to support his crime-fighting career, has no true superpowers, uses the shadows as cover, is Clark Kent's closest superhero ally, is a founding member of the Justice League, and (through the use of his considerable personal fortune) serves as the primary financial backing for the Justice League.
- Oliver is the founder of Smallville's version of the Justice League and is the first known member to wear a costume. He rescued most of the other members before asking them to join.
- It is unclear how much influence or stake Oliver currently holds in Queen Industries or LuthorCorp.
- Oliver has a net worth of at least $10 billion mentioned in Beast. In Roulette, the amount of money shown to be contained in Oliver's bank is $3,137,012,336,96. This could be due to during his fall into alcoholism and self-destruction, his company's stock-worth went down dramatically although it is unlikely Oliver lost just under $7,000,000,000. It could also be the difference between Oliver's assets and his cash on hand. $3 billion is a remarkable large amount of money to keep in a bank, as the return on his investment would be very small. Though in Crossfire, it is said that Oliver is now richer than the Luthors were, possibly due to his control of LuthorCorp.
- In the alternate cover to Green Arrow #31 The Fall of Green Arrow, Green Arrow's costume seems to be based off of Smallvilles version. Although this may be just artistic license as he is wearing his traditional costume in the actual pages of the issue.
- Oliver is the fourth person to attempt suicide in the entire run of the series. The first was Lionel in Season Three's Crisis, the second was Chloe in Season Five's Tomb (Although it should be noted that she was actually possessed by another spirit and did not try to commit suicide herself), and the third was Davis Bloome in Season Eight's Eternal. None of them succeeded: Lionel reconsidered, Clark kept Chloe from bleeding to death and took her to the hospital, Davis discovered he was immortal, and Oliver failed because Toyman lied to him about the supposed pressure plate he was standing on.
- Oliver is currently occupying Lionel Luthor's old office.
- Oliver appeared in 17 episodes in Season Ten.
- Oliver revealed during a press conference on national television that he is Green Arrow. (Supergirl) In the comics Oliver is publicly unmasked as Green Arrow after he turns himself in to the authorities to stand trial for murdering the super villain Prometheus in Green Arrow and Black Canary #32 The Fall of Green Arrow.
- Oliver was the only hero shown to have been corrupted by Darkseid.
- In the comics Oliver Queen eventually marries (and divorces) Dinah Lance. In the series, Oliver marries Chloe and it is strongly suggested that they have a son together. Al Septien and Justin Hartley also implied the fact the boy is actually the son of Chloe and Oliver.
- In Finale Part 2, it is shown that Oliver still has the metal shuriken he previously stole from Carter Hall. It is seen as a part of his arsenal.
- Green Arrow first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 (November 1941).
- According to Toyman's files, Oliver is 6'3, weighs 196 pounds, has green eyes and blond hair.
- Oliver Queen's home town is Star City. (Wither)
- He speaks fluent Russian, (Odyssey), Spanish (Echo), and Egyptian Arabic (Isis).
- Oliver Queen is allergic to peanuts. (Wither)
- Oliver almost always refers to Tess Mercer as "Mercy." (Toxic, Committed, Bloodline, Bulletproof)
- According to Lionel, Oliver was a very "convincing actor." (Wither)
- Oliver Queen's parents died when he was in fourth grade in 1989, placing his birth year around 1979 or 1980, the same time as Lex. This makes Oliver around the age of 30 or 31.
- Lana Lang and Oliver Queen had mothers named Laura. In the comics and Oliver Queen Chronicles Oliver's mother's name is Moira Queen, which make Chloe Sullivan and Oliver Queen have mothers named Moira.
- When Oliver dressed up as "Robin Hood" at Lex's ball, the costume he wore looked like Green Arrow's Silver Age uniform from the 60's.
- Oliver and Dinah Lance have not been shown to be romantically involved, though Oliver once thought letters were discovered between them and he claimed they were "purely platonic".
- Although Green Arrow uses crossbows and compact bows in the show, in the comics, he has a strong distaste for them.
- Oliver's phone number is 252 555-0173. (Odyssey) 252 is an area code in North Carolina.
- Chloe Sullivan is the only woman he ever said "I love you" to, on the show. (Salvation)
- Oliver is Catholic (Supergirl, Dominion).
Season Nine Timeline
In an alternate future, Oliver joined Chloe and her ranks to fight the Kandorians using kryptonite weapons. They raided the Luthor Mansion to save Lois and Clark from Zod. Oliver watched as Tess died from getting shot by a kryptonite arrow, fired by Chloe. He then sadly buried her body while Lois stood by. After Chloe initiated a virus to take the Solar Tower down, Oliver donned his Green Arrow costume and stood alone to hold off the oncoming army of Kandorians while Lois retrieved the Legion ring. As the massive wave of Kandorians approached, Oliver drew back his bow, ready for battle.
Oliver Queen (1980-2010 or 2011) was Oliver Queen's doppelganger from Earth-2. He was Lois Lane of Earth-2's husband as well as a billionaire.
Oliver of Earth-2 was frustrated and wanted to be a hero, but can not due to not having the power to defeat Ultraman. He still continued to be a millionaire, and is engaged to Lois but his fate was constantly overshadowed by the Luthors. The most significant physical difference he had with the mainstream Oliver was that his hair was black instead of blond. When Clark was once again sent to Earth-2, he discovered that Clark Luthor had murdered Oliver after he revealed Clark's weakness to kryptonite to the entire city. Lois and many others, including a very upset Jonathan Kent of Earth-2, were seen at Oliver's funeral.
